My husband and I and our two friends Ron and Vicki traveled to the Big Island in 2005. We stayed on the Hamakua coast on a cliff high above the Waipio Valley. When we saw the pictures on the internet, I thought – oh sure, it looks pretty in the picture but, I bet it doesn’t look anything like that in real life. Well, I was in for a VERY pleasant surprise! When we arrived, and climbed the stairs to the lanai – oh my goodness!! It was the most etherial feeling I have ever had. To see those majestic cliffs towering over the beautiful Pacific Ocean – and Maui off in the distance, like an afterthought – made me want to sing every Hymn I know and get down on my knees and thank God for such a beautiful place on earth.
