Called “The Good Life in Waiakea,” this year’s fundraiser brings to life earlier days of Hilo’s oceanfront district prior to the tsunamis that struck the town in 1946 and 1960. Survivor stories will be shared by master storyteller/actress Kathy “Tita” Collins, and Chris Harrison. This area is now home to famous Banyan Drive, resort hotels, Queen Lili‘uokalani Gardens and a golf course. 6 – 9 p.m., Sangha Hall. $25 includes dinner. (808) 935-0926 or www.tsunami.org.
