A Hawaii Island resort hotel can be a wonderful place for making beautiful wedding memories. More than a dozen have outdoor and/or oceanfront wedding venues, while some have small but elegant wedding chapels right on the grounds.

These resorts also have on-site wedding coordinators, who can arrange much or all of the wedding details, from making an appointment for a wedding license, getting a photographer, planning the menu, choosing entertainment and helping select flowers, to renting dresses and tuxedos.

Numerous other amenities can make a wedding more romantic and enjoyable at the resorts, including ballroom and banquet facilities, catering services, massage services, spa treatments, limousines and package plans for romantic honeymoon stays. Though resorts may have standard wedding packages, they can all be customized according to a couple’s preferences.

One other very special element of a wedding here: Whatever the venue and whether simple or as lavish, almost all weddings in Hawaii incorporate local traditions into the ceremony, such as lei and Hawaiian music and food.

Kohala

The contemporary Hapuna Beach Prince Hotel (www.hapunabeachprincehotel.com), at the Mauna Kea Resort.

Mauna Lani Bay Hotel & Bungalows (www.maunalani.com), home of Mrs. Pinkie Crowe, unofficial wedding queen of the Kohala Coast. Mauna Lani’s beautiful facilities are world class.

Fairmont Orchid Hawaii (www.fairmont.com), where service is styled for those who expect the best.

Hilton Waikoloa Resort (www.hiltonwaikoloavillage.com) shares aloha with brides and grooms in numerous playful ways, like a “just married” sign on the inter-resort yacht. Geared to larger parties and active couples, the Hilton offers everything you can think of to make a wedding a wonder.

Waikoloa Beach Marriott (www.marriotthawaii.com), is simpler but still heavenly and takes pride in the personal touch.

Kona Village Resort (www.konavillage.com) calls itself “the most dreamed-of spot on earth” for good reason. Here a bride and groom can be truly alone in an individual thatch-roof hale (house) with no phone or television to intrude. Weddings and honeymoons here are of a different but still elegant nature.

Four Seasons Resort Hualalai(www.fourseasons.com), is preceded by its reputation for excellence in everything they do.

Kona

King Kamehameha’s Kona Beach Hotel, www.konabeachhotel.com and the Royal Kona Resort ( www.royalkona.com ) are experts at welcoming wedding parties year-round.

Sheraton Keauhou Bay Resort & Spa (www.sheratonkeauhou.com) brings a new dimension of quality service and beautiful facilities to the Kona area.

Hilo

In Hilo, Banyan Drive is the place, marked by rows of celebrity banyan trees, each planted by and named for a public personality of the 30’s. At the end is lovely Queen Liliuokalani Gardens, with its eclectic oriental bridges and tranquil Hilo Bay as a backdrop.

Hilo Hawaiian Hotel (www.hilohawaiian.com) and Naniloa Volcanoes Resort (www.naniloaresort.com) can help make a memorable wedding day and festive reception.
