- Before coming on your Hawaii spa & wellness vacation, take a good look at the Websites of healers, spas, eco-adventure tours and others you’re considering. Then phone them to learn more about what they offer, and to get a feel for their style. This will help you determine if they’re right for you.
- Plan early. Sometimes health practitioners are unavailable because they’re traveling or participating in events, and retreat facilities may be booked far in advance.
- Give yourself a full day to settle in before you begin working with any healer except a massage therapist or chiropractor, who can help remove the kinks that arise from travel.
- When planning your trip, give yourself plenty of down time to integrate the work you will be doing—and enough drive time to get everywhere at a leisurely pace. And consider staying longer in a given location, rather than hurrying all over the island in a short time.
- Bring items that will help you relax and enhance your experience, for instance: a journal to write about your experiences, candles and incense, a portable music player, a small hammock and a favorite sun hat.
