The Ahupua'a is an ancient Hawaiian land division system containing strips of land that extend from the mountain to the sea. On this day, Hawai'i Volcanoes National Park and the 'Imiloa Astronomy Center, bring the concepts and values of the Ahupua'a system to The Tech Museum.
Utilizing elements of Hawaiian culture, language and history, the Hawaii program will actively engage you in understanding the connections between earth, sea and sky, our place in the cosmos and our influence upon the environment.
"He lani ko luna, he honua ko lalo – a sky above, the earth below and all that is encompassed therein."
Sharing the wonder of earth, sea and sky we encourage an understanding of our place within the cosmos and our influence upon the environment, supporting responsible stewardship for the benefit of future generations.
